Calumet County STEAMfest 2023

Information
First published on 21 September 2023 Posted in Library

The Chilton Public Library, New Holstein Public Library, and the Chilton Public Schools are planning events for all children in Calumet County during the third week of October.  New Holstein Public Library will host their event on Tuesday, October 17 at 2:20PM. Chilton’s event will take place at the Chilton Middle School Gym from 3:45-5:30PM on Thursday, October 19.  Other events in our area include Carolyn Cave Tours at Ledge View Nature Center on Saturday, October 14 from 1-3PM and a Pumpkin Walk at Brillion Nature Center on Saturday, October 21 from 6-8:30PM. Check their websites for details.

Our goal is to interest students in each part of STREAM - science, technology, robotics, engineering, art, and math. These events are coordinated with the Wisconsin Science Fest.

Chilton’s STEAMfest will begin with a presentation by REGIRaptor Educational Group, Incorporated from Antigo called WINGED WONDERS. Have you ever met an owl face to face? What about a hawk? A falcon? Meet some of Wisconsin's common, but rarely encountered birds. Discover what a raptor is, hear their stories and learn what you can do to ensure they remain a significant part of the ecosystem. After the presentation attendees will participate in the following activities:

SCIENCE - Owl Pellets & REGI
TECHNOLOGY – Oculus/Virtual Reality & Let's Go Code
ROBOTICS - Ozobots & Indi Car Robots
ENGINEERING - Bird Cage with Brain Flakes & Can you step through an index card?
ART - Button making & Messy art
MATH - Bean Bag Math & Candy Sudoku

All events are free to the public, courtesy of a WiLS Action Grant, except Ledge View Nature Center’s. One must register on the LVNC website. Attend one, attend all!
